Thought of the Week 2

    There are many people who will come into our lives. Positive or negative they will have an influence on us. Some people come by chance, some come by association, and some people come because they were meant to impact our lives. This last group are the special ones, the ones that we need to help us see everyday as an opportunity to succeed.
   
    In any walk of life we are challenged to believe that we can get by on our own, that if we want something we should go out and get it. Whilst I believe that we can all achieve whatever we set our minds to, we cannot do it without surrounding ourselves with these special people. If you take a second to reflect on the people who you surround yourself with it should not be hard to see who these special people are. They are the ones that make you smile every time you see them, the ones that know exactly what to say and when to say it, and the ones that give you a feeling that no one else can give you. These people make you truly happy, and the thought of not having them in our life is incomprehensible. They help us to achieve what we desire, they make us stronger and help us appreciate our lives a whole lot more. Though they may not know how much influence they have, and to an extent we may not either, they in part make us who we are.

    In order to achieve anything in our lives we must surround ourselves with the right people. From a soccer standpoint, as a coach you want to bring in other coaches around you that help you achieve your goal. You want to bring in players that are willing to do what you ask in order to achieve your goal. A team is a group of players and a coaching staff that have come together with a vision, but it is only special coaches and special players that bring that vision into reality.
    The same can be said in any other aspect of your life. We must seek out people who inspire us, make us want to be better at whatever it is we want to do. When we find these people, don’t be afraid to let them know they are special to you, because to have them around us is one of the most precious things we can have. There will not be many of these people throughout our lives. People will come and go and we will move on, but the ones that mean the most will stick around. They will be the ones we celebrate with when we achieve, and they will be the first ones there to pick us back up when we fail.

    Do not underestimate the power of these special people in our lives. They are there for a reason. Embrace them, let them know what they mean to you, and most of all, don’t let them slip from your life.
